Who needs to take the C1 Driving Test?
If you passed your driving test after 1st January 1997 you will NOT have this entitlement on your licence, so to be able to drive a vehicle between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes you will need to take a C1 test.
Why do you need this C1 Entitlement?
There could be several reasons why you require this vocational licence upgrade. You will need this licence category to drive the following:-
- Emergency Services Paramedic
- Small horse box
- Delivery Van
- Motorhome
Steps to gaining your licence
1) Medical:-
This is a fairly basic medical check of your eyesight, hearing, blood pressure, heart and there is a urine test for diabetes. We do fortnightly medicals at our office or we can arrange for an appointment at a health centre.
2)Theory:-
Hazard perception and Multiple choice computer tests.. We offer a training course in readiness for this with additional FREE training if needed.
Why not ask about our re-vamped HGV Classroom theory course!!
3) Practical training:-
Experience has taught us that most people need a 3 day course with your test on the third day. However, you may prefer to have an assessment drive before starting your training. This allows you to familiarise yourself with the vehicle and helps us to identify the standard of your driving. We can then assess whether you need fewer or more days to complete your training.
4) Test:-
We book your test and obviously prepare you fully for it by including most of the test routes in our practical training. Your test will either start at our offices or our reverse pad and you will take it in the vehicle you have trained in.
